USB 3.0 pending launch

The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) kicked off on January 7 at Las Vegas
. Module manufacturers
have taken the opportunity to reveal their latest USB 3.0 flash drive products. Compared to the current
USB 2.0 interface, the USB 3.0 specification boasts data transfer rate that is 10 times faster in order to
 support higher display speed for HD and 3D games. Vendors have speculated that USB 3.0 flash drive will
become the mainstream product in the area of 3C electronics by the end of the year.

 
A section at the CES was dedicated to the display of products featuring USB 3.0 specifications. The new
interface will be extensively adopted by various products such as USB flash drives, portable hard disks,
blu-ray players and so forth in 2010. And as such, revelation of the USB 3.0 interface has been the focus
of the limelight at this year’s CES. Memory module manufacturers will soon be launching their USB 3.0 flash
drive products by touting the fact that the new standard will allow a 27GB blu-ray media file to be transferred
in a mere 94 seconds. The data rate of USB 3.0 is at least 6 to 10 times faster compared to USB 2.0.
